New students take field trip to NY
In July 2024, new Geosciences students Rowan, Izabelle, Avery and Owen took a week-long field trip to upstate NY with Jordan Collins, a senior majoring in Geosciences, and professor John Peck. They collected fossils, minerals, rocks, hiked to many waterfalls and wetlands. -

BS Geology student David Williams wins award
On Tuesday, April 9, 2024, the Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences held an Undergraduate Student Research Day. David Williams (adviser Dr. Molly Witter Shelleman) won a best student presenter award in the Natural Sciences Division. -

On Wednesday, April 3, 2024, the Graduate School and Office of Research Administration held a University Research Day. Of the Masters presenters, the first place winner was Carly Leventhal whose adviser is Dr. Caleb Holyoke. -

Jordan Collins, an undergraduate student earning her B.S. in Geology, was awarded the Central Ohio Mineral, Fossil, Gem, and Jewelry Show dual scholarship for 2024-25. -

Geosciences club Underground in a Salt Mine
Geosciences club trip to the Cargill Salt Mine under Cleveland, Ohio, on January 12, 2024. These students received a tour of the mine and were able to collect halite samples. -

Student research presented at national GSA meeting
Graduate student Madison Wood and undergraduate students Madison Isaac and Hailey Connor presented their research at the recent national Geological Society of America meeting in Pittsburgh, PA, on Oct. 15-18, 2023. -
