Geosciences student organization wins national award

The University of Akron's Association for Women Geoscientists (AWG) received the "Chapter Excellence Award" in October. The national AWG organization recognized the UA chapter for its achievements and progress in inclusion along with their avid activity and consistent performance. The club works to enhance the quality and participation of women in geosciences on campus.

The officers of the UAkron AWG club are: President Jordan Collins, Vice President Maggie Mahaney, Secretary Katy Bohannon, and Treasurer Savanna Shedenhelm. Dr. Molly Witter, assistant professor of instruction in geosciences, is the faculty advisor to the club.
