Repro rights book circle
The Women’s Studies and Sociology departments hosted a Book Circle at local bookstore Elizabeth’s Bookshop & Writing Centre for Reproductive Rights as Human Rights: Women of Color and the Fight for Reproductive Justice by Dr. Zakiya Luna. At this Book Circle in February 2024, students lead a discussion that included the author, professors and students from the University of Akron, and community members interested in the topic.

With a productive conversation under her belt, Dr. Luna then attended the Luncheon Panel with community partner organizations at UA and was a keynote speaker for the Spring Series on Reproductive Justice. The community partners for the luncheon included Hope and Healing Survivor Resource Center, Planned Parenthood, etc. (need to find other names.)
Summit Metro Parks sitting in on GIS comm engaged course
Biologists from Summit Metro Parks worked with Dr. Shanon Donnelly’s _____ course to discover the location of invasive species in sections of parks that cannot be visited on foot. The students learned how to fly drones, and showcased their findings to SMP staff.
