Engineering undergrad students at The University of Akron

Graduate Studies in Electrical and Computer Engineering

The graduate Electrical and Computer Engineering program at The University of Akron provides students with the opportunity to deepen their technical and leadership skills as an engineer in a world driven by technology. This program prepares students for careers in industry, government, or academia by developing advanced skills in the electrical and computer engineering process.

THE GRADUATE DEGREES

Master of Science (M.S.) in Electrical and Computer Engineering

The Master of Science (M.S.) in Electrical and Computer Engineering degree focuses on deepening your fundamental knowledge of electrical engineering and gaining professional skills and hand-on experiences useful for careers in industry, government or academia. Both thesis and non-thesis options are available.

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Engineering

Our interdisciplinary Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Engineering degree allows you to have a specific research focus completely customized to your interest. Ph.D students focus more on conducting the cutting-edge and high impact research across different interdisciplinary fields, with our faculty members in a collaborative environment that is informal, friendly and intellectually vigorous.

“UA is preparing me with a new way of thinking about and solving any problem. It is the most important skill for me to have as an engineer. The problems I need to solve diverge into many areas such as mathematical literature, system architecture, programming, CAD design, etc. I have a huge advantage over other job candidates because at UA I’m able to put into practice what I’ve learned in my studies.”
