Amateur Radio

Amateur Radio Club aims to teach the practical applications of radio communication and educate the student community on the technological and legal aspects of amateur radio. Through building projects and participation in radio communication, the club offers a fun, laid-back environment with interesting projects and experiments in radio and general electronics.

American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) is the professional society for aerospace engineering. The AIAA UA Student Chapter offer students interested in the aerospace field a chance to meet other students with similar interests, the opportunity to hear aerospace-related guest speakers, and to participate in a variety of activities, including field trips, group projects, and social events.

American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) is the world’s leading organization for chemical engineering professionals. At UA, this group is dedicated to encouraging relationships between students, faculty, and industry based on personal, professional, and social growth.

American Society of Civil Engineers

American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is to enhance students’ networking, communication, problem solving, and team collaboration skills. Members are responsible for completing five service hours per semester, which can often be accomplished through the ASCE planned service and fundraising events.

American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers

American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) sets and advances regulations in the HVAC industry. The organization promotes education of young and experienced engineers on a global level. The UA chapter brings in speakers to share their experiences and help students grow professionally. We also take facility tours and educate students on the HVAC industry.

Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) serves the undergraduate and graduate student body at UA by offering numerous opportunities for leadership, professional development, research, community outreach, and networking. ChemE Jeopardy

ChemE Jeopardy is a student organization where members meet weekly to practice ChemE Jeopardy games and compete in regional AIChE conferences. The top teams from each regional conference advance to the Annual AIChE National Student Conference. The UA ChemE Jeopardy team, which competed for the first time in 2023, secured first place at the North Central Regional Conference and ranked among the top six teams nationally.

Construction Management Association of America

Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) is for students interested in the construction industry. The organization provides networking opportunities with guest speakers and involves students in volunteer construction projects. Notable events include the Annual Employer Symposium and the Spring Break Volunteering Service Trip.

Corrosion Squad (also known as the Association for Materials Protection and Performance, AMPP) focuses on protecting people, assets, and the environment from corrosion. The club meets monthly and features guest speakers from industry and academia discussing research, corrosion failures and successes, and innovative technology.

Electronics Club inspires undergraduate students to develop their electrical and computational creativity and abilities. Students engage with local companies and learn fundamentals like soldering, breadboarding, microcontrollers, and programming. The club also fosters connections with others interested in engineering.

National Society of Black Engineers

National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is one of the largest student-governed organizations based in the United States. NSBE’s mission is to increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community. The Polymer Student Organization is for students at UA interested in polymer science or polymer engineering. The group is open to graduate and undergraduate students. Students meet regularly and participate in fun social activities like the fall picnic and winter holiday party.

Pride in STEMM

Pride in STEMM is a student organization devoted to the support of Queer students in science, technology, engineering, math and medical fields. We focus primarily on education, community building and professional development. We welcome all students including allies and non-STEM majors and are always striving to support the STEM and LGBTQ+ communities.

Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics

Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) UA Chapter provides a forum for discussing applied mathematics research, including a lecture series on research and career development. SIAM fosters interactions between undergraduate and graduate students and organizes social events, field trips, and offers opportunities to join the national mathematics honor society, Pi Mu Epsilon.
