Akron Law Digital   - Access for Akron Law Faculty, Students and Staff
Akron Law Digital provides 24/7 electronic access to numerous titles published by Lexis and the American Bar Association. There are primary and secondary sources published by Lexis, including many Ohio treatises, and large treatises such as Nimmer on Copyright and Page on the Law of Wills. Aspen Learning Library – Aspen Learning Library (f.k.a. Wolters Kluwer Study Aid Library) contains study aids in Ebook form, including Emanuel Law Outlines, Examples and Explanations, Glannon Guides, Emanuel Crunchtime, Academic Success, Casenote Legal Briefs, Inside Series, Friedman’s Series and Jumpstart Series.    Create an account to add bookmarks, notes, and highlights as well as add custom shelves and favorites. Bloomberg Law – Provides comprehensive access to up-to-date legal content as well as daily business news and market information.  Includes a legal citator, cases, statutes, news, commentary and analysis, federal docket searching, and transactional information. For further information see the Legal Research Databases Guide. [Accessible to UA users off-campus via VPN access. Law school students, faculty and staff may set up personal accounts with their own username and password.]


CALI (Center for Computer Assisted Legal Instruction) – CALI Lessons are web-based tutorials on a variety of legal subjects. Currently there are over 950 lessons in over 35 law school subjects.  Click here for information about the CALI authorization code for UA Law students. Decisis (via OSBA) – The Ohio State Bar Association provides this database to its members, including law student members. Contains cases, statutes, court rules and regulations for the fifty states and federal. Includes a Citator to see if cases are still good law. Contains selected federal and state agency decisions and official Ohi – o jury instructions. To access, sign up for a FREE OSBA student membership.

Eighteenth Century Collections Online – The Eighteenth Century Collections Online is a comprehensive digital collection of nearly 140,000 English-language titles covering all subjects published between 1701 and 1800 in the United Kingdom and North America, including foreign-language titles printed in the UK. It includes titles covering the development of law in the British Empire between 1701 and 1800. [UA users only.]

Fastcase – Law faculty, staff and students can sign up for free Fastcase access here. Many lawyers use Fastcase as an economical option to Lexis or Westlaw. Fastcase provides case law, court rules, statutes and regulations, both federal and state. It also has a Shepards-like feature. For more information see the Legal Research Databases Guide.



Foreign Law GuideThe Foreign Law Guide (FLG) covers over 190 foreign jurisdictions and offers information on sources of foreign law, including bibliographic citations to legislation, the existence of English translations, and selected references to secondary sources. [McDowell Building only.]


Hannah Capitol Connection – Provides access to Ohio legislative and governmental information service, including bill tracking, the full text of bills, the administrative code and revised code, committee rosters, legislator information, and government-related news from the Hannah News Service.  Also known as Ohio Capitol Connection or Hannah Online. Online searchable, legal research collection includes Law Journal Library of U.S. and foreign titles providing comprehensive coverage, Congressional Record bound volumes, U.S. Reports, state statutes and session laws, legal classics, world famous trials, the United Nations and League of Nations Treaty Series, U.S. Treaties, the Federal Register, the Code of Federal Regulations, and various, specialized collections [UA users only.]


IA Reporter – Investment Arbitration Reporter is a news and analysis service focusing on international law that applies to foreign investment, particularly the international investment treaties and arbitration claims that arise in this context. Coverage includes the investigation of unreported cases, rapid review and analysis of legal documents, and important policy developments. [UA law users only.]


Index to Foreign Legal Periodicals – HeinOnline’s Index to Foreign Legal Periodicals (IFLP) is a subject index to articles and book reviews in selected foreign law journals and collected essays, from 1985 to the present.  Includes browsable digital versions of print index editions from 1960-1984 [UA users only.]


Index to Legal Periodicals Retrospevctive – A retrospective database indexing over 750 legal periodicals published in the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. Annual surveys of the laws of a jurisdiction, annual surveys of the federal courts, yearbooks, annual institutes, and annual reviews of the work in a given field or on a given topic are also covered.  [UA Users only.]

LiquidText — Access for Akron Law Faculty, Students, and Staff. The vendor sends the information to create an account via email. If you can’t find this email contact ualawlibrary@uakron.edu. This tech offers a way to review, gather, and organize information. Training is available through vendor videos on YouTube or by emailing the law library.


LLMC Digital – Retrospective digital collection of primary and secondary legal materials including federal and state official case reporters, U.S. Statutes at Large, and decisions of some federal agencies.  Includes legal source materials from the U.K. and former Common law countries.  [UA users only.]


Making of Modern Law: Legal Treatises, 1800-1926 – Searchable retrospective digital collection featuring access to some 22,000 Anglo-American legal treatises, case books, pamphlets, speeches, letters, and other works, dating from 1800-1926. [UA users only.]


Making of Modern Law: Primary Sources, 1620-1926 – This digital collection contains approximately 1,350 works, including colonial records, constitutional conventions and compilations, city charters, law dictionaries, and state codes.  The sources are full-text searchable or can be browsed by author or title.  Advanced search features include searching by jurisdiction, publication type, language, date, and illustration. Making of Modern Law: Trials, 1600-1926 – The Making of Modern Law: Trials, 1600-1926 is comprised of thousands of books and pamphlets. It is an archive of trial documents and unofficially published accounts of important trials in the U.S., Britain, and France dating from 1600 to 1926.  It covers commercial law, constitutional law, dueling, elections, impeachment, international law, land, libel, military offenses, murder, torts, treason, and wills, among many other subjects. Making of Modern Law: U.S. Supreme Court records and briefs, 1832-1978 – This collection contains records and briefs brought before the United States Supreme Court between 1832 and 1978.  Included are transcripts, applications for review, motions, petitions, and supplements.  It contains nearly 11 million pages from over 75,000 cases brought before the Court. [UA users only.]


Max Planck Encyclopedia of Comparative Constitutional Law – The Max Planck Encyclopedia of Comparative Constitutional Law is a comprehensive online resource containing analytical comparative articles offering a global overview of constitutional law. The articles available in the database address a focused range of topics that provide the best coverage of the essence, character, development, and history of constitutional law from a global perspective. It provides seamless navigation between encyclopedia articles, linking to commentaries and instruments from the Oxford Constitutions of the World and US Constitutional Law products.  [UA users only.]


Max Planck Encyclopedias of International Law – The Max Planck Encyclopedia of International Law is a comprehensive, analytical resource containing peer-reviewed articles on every aspect of international law. ProQuest Congressional – Provides access to Congressional hearings, committee reports, witness testimony, and other Congressional publications. Content also includes the Congressional Record and its predecessors, documents from the Congressional Research Service, information about current and historic members of Congress, the Federal Register, the Code of Federal Regulations, political news sources, and social media. Coverage begins with 1789. [UA users only.]


ProQuest Legislative InsightComplete legislative history information for many federal laws.  This resource contains legislative history information from 1789 to current. (Coverage between 1789 – 1929 is selective.)  [UA users only.]


Proquest Regulatory Insight – Find "regulation histories" - compilations of Federal Register notices, proposed rules, and rules representing the complete rulemaking process associated with specific Public Laws and Executive Orders. Also search regulations back to 1789. [UA users only.]


ProQuest Supreme Court Insight – Contains U.S. Supreme Court Records and Briefs from 1975 to current. Contains materials for cases argued before the Supreme Court only. Includes docket, petition for writ of certiorari, briefs, oral argument transcript, opinion. More info
