Professional & Academic Experience

Michael A. Discenza is vice president, finance and group controller of The Timken Company. Named to this position in 2022, he has global financial controlling responsibility for both of Timken’s business segments. His leadership and problem-solving skills optimize the performance of the business segments and strengthen the company financially — driving profitable growth and return on invested capital. Mike joined Timken in 2000, and has served in various finance and accounting positions, including controller of aerospace & super precision, operations controller, and director of accounting and financial planning and analysis. Prior to joining Timken Mike served as a financial analyst with several companies after starting his career as a computer programmer/analyst.

Mike graduated from The University of Akron in 1993 with his bachelor’s in Economics and completed his master’s degree in economics in 1994, also from The University of Akron. He is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants and is a Certified Management Accountant. He is a graduate of the 25th signature class of Leadership Stark County and the Timken Leadership Development Program (2013).

Mike is married to Gina. They have three children and reside in Jackson Township, Ohio. Discenza serves as the board president of JRC, a non-profit based in Canton, Ohio.
